What are people Googling about Malaysia’s politicians?

One of the things we’re trying to establish on this site is digging a little deeper into things that tell a lot about us as a people.  And one key element of everyone’s day is to search for stuff on Google. Unlike Facebook, it’s really easy to see trending on Google – simply type a term in, and Google will attempt to guess what else you want by supplementing your search with other popular related keywords.

What does this mean? Essentially we can see what other people are typing in relation to some common search terms. It’s not scientific, but it does tell us a lot about you guys.

So let’s see… what should we start with? How about….

 

 

Not entirely a bad one. So people want to know how rich he is, and also his credentials, like education background, achievements, and of course, whether he’s actually Bugis instead of Malay?

To be honest, after we did our initial research, we found out that the Buginese people come from Sulawesi (that’s the doggy shaped island owned by Indonesia), and once had a reputation as bloodthirsty pirates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugis_Street) but were now mostly farmers and fishermen. In fact, if you go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugis, you’ll actually see Ah Jib Gor’s face right on the top right.

 

For balance, let’s now do…

 

Of course sodomy is going to come up. Duh. Lets look at the others.  Charles Allers is the author of “The Evolution of a Muslim Democrat: The Life of Malaysia’s Anwar Ibrahim”, and worryingly… his only book. In fact, it’s odd that we can’t find any other info on this guy on Google, despite having written about quite possibly one of the most important politicians in our country. Anyone else know anything about this guy – please let us know in the comments below,

Mohammad Nour was worrying as he is apparently one of two terrorists who were photographed with former US presidential candidate John McCain. Thankfully, this is an entirely different Anwar Ibrahim, who at least to our knowledge, has not been beaten in prison or sodomised or united three formerly splintered political parties.

Next, let’s move on to someone a bit more juicy…

So apparently, you guys think this dude is a total playa. Yes, he is the rockstar of Malaysia politics, and it’s telling that people are searching not for his wiki, but his BIODATA, which is what you’d do to someone you wanna date. Not to mention that in his search results, you’ll see not one, but three young, and admittedly desirable women (Najib’s didn’t even mention his wife).

Anyways, the issue with the lovely miss Nurhaliza was apparently because of a tweet that Siti sent, chiding Khairy on his language when calling former Malaysia football team captain Datuk Jamal Nasir Ismail,, an “errand boy”.

 

As for Maya Karin? Yes… that one is a suspected affair. Ditto Nurul Izzah, whom Khairy was rumoured to be dating before marrying Pak Lah’s daughter instead, which he denies.

 

Dayum… it’s like Beverly Hills 90210. Wait until we get to Nurul Izzah herself. Stay tuned.
