1. Junior Content Consultant (aka Sales) - Not available
Overall, your primary task is selling our content marketing solutions to clients – aka ‘sponsored content’. Because each client has different needs and objectives, you have to be perceptive in understanding what they want; and understand our portfolio enough to recommend out-of-the box (yet achievable) solutions if needed. You’re also the bridge between external clients and the Cilisos editorial team – they depend on you to tell them what the client wants so they can start work!
Here’s an idea of what you’ll be doing:
- Connecting with brands and agencies to build up your portfolio of clients
- Following up with your clients to maintain and expand your network and portfolio
- Understanding your client’s content marketing needs, and conveying the information to the Cilisos editorial team through project briefs
- Create project proposals for your clients
- Managing your clients during the campaign period (i.e. in terms of communication, feedback, and generally keeping everyone up to date)
- Monitoring, tracking and reporting the campaign performance in the Post Campaign Report, and sharing these reports with your clients
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in any field
- 2+ years’ of sales consulting, media sales or agency background preferred, but not necessary
- Malaysian citizenship (Sorry, HR requirement)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and BM
- Ability think on your feet and a fast learner
- Great attention to detail
- Independent and resourceful, not afraid to ask questions
- Diplomatic – can mediate the clients’ need with those of the company (aka your bottom line)
- Comfortable with socializing and presenting to groups of people
- Always hungry. For more sales, not just for food.

2. Editorial Intern - Limited availability. Click here to open
Here’s how we’ll describe the job.
- You’ll work closely with the Editorial team to craft your own articles.
- This means you’ll get to learn what it takes to educate the masses without sounding like a boring typewriter.
- You’ll write. A LOT.
- You’ll research. HELLA LOT.
- You’ll cry. ALL THE TIME.
- Just joking – you’d probably LOVE it! (At least that’s what our ex-interns tell us, unless they were only ciuming buntot…)
- Regardless, you’ll definitely grow as a writer under the care of our Great Supreme Leader and his minions.
This job is for you if you meet the following requirement:
- Know the aim of CILISOS.MY.
- Have interest in Malaysian current events, politics and lifestyle.
- Is hardworking, logical, and curious.
- Have a good nose. Not literally, of course. You gotta be able to sniff out a story when it passes your way!
- Has good command of English, Manglish and Meme.
- Is keen to learn and able to take criticism.
- Can think out of the box. The box does not exist. Actually do we all even exist?
- Doesn’t mind a semi-violent, inappropriate and messy workplace.
- Are able to stay for at least 2 months.
- Is a genuine and decent human being. The kind that would smile or say thanks when someone holds the elevator door for them.
Past writing or reporting experience not necessary. We just need you to be able to write casually, so if you use words like ‘equivocally’ or ‘ennui’ are in your daily vocab plz dun apply kthnx!)
Oh bonus points if you can do math, have a great sense of humour, know how to use a coffee machine, and love furry animals.
3. Video Intern - Available! Click here to open
We’ve recently started creating video content, and that’s why we need our first video intern to help us out! Here’s what we think your job’s gonna be like:
- You’ll work closely with our Kepala Video to create videos for Cilisos.
- This means you’ll be part of the entire creation process, from pre to post production.
- You’ll also work with the Editorial Team to turn their stories into moving frames.
- Then there are the other stuff like assisting with social media posting, troubleshooting, offloading, verification, backup of media, etc.
- It’s a small team for now, so you can basically expect to be part of ERRRRTHANG video-related.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Knowledge of digital media including codecs, image types, resolutions, frame rates
- Basic knowledge of videography, audio-pairing, and handling of camera and lighting equipment
- Your own laptop with an advanced video editing software such as Final Cut Pro etc. iMovie maybe dowan la pls.
- Advanced knowledge of tools such as: Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator
- A creative mind which thinks out of the box, but also meticulous, technical organised at the same time.
- Team spirit! We’re a small, close-knit fam and we’d like to keep it that way 🙂
- Ability to work with deadlines and with minimal supervision.
Bonus points if you know how to do motion graphics (After Effects)!
4. Freelance Writer - Currently not accepting. Maaf.
Wanna be part of our Editorial Team, but unable to take up a full-time position? Why not try freelancing for us? Here’s what the job’s like:
- You’ll meet us for a mini-orientation on how to write for CILISOS, and from thereon you’ll mostly deal with us via email.
- You’ll submit your ideas through our article pitch form, and start writing when you have the green light.
- We only pay for published (or ready-to-be published) articles.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- A story to share with your fellow Malaysians. It could even be something you’re already familiar with (e.g. suffering from Lupus in Malaysia, things that baffle you as a Sabahan in KL, marrying your same-sex partner, things Klang people are sick of hearing….).
- Have interest in Malaysian-focused stories.
- Ability to fit into the CILISOS mould. This doesn’t mean using memes and Manglish… this means being able to question, analyse, research and deliver all the facts in a logical and balanced manner.

5. Sales Intern - Not available
Ever wanted to join our team, but don’t think you’ve got what it takes to write? Why not try our Sales Department instead? It’ll give you the experience you’ll need for a career in sales and marketing, and that’s something every company will find useful regardless the industry. Here’s what the job’s like:
- You’ll learn probably the most crucial of all skills in keeping a company alive: SELLING!
- But that doesn’t mean selling blindly la. You’ll listen to our clients as they share their problems or goals, and help find Cilisossy solutions that can meet their needs. (Don’t worry – you won’t do this alone! We brainstorm all our solutions together.)
- Along with that, you’ll learn all about sales administration and the process behind it.
- You’ll also be researching into the many different industries of our clients, potential clients, and media agencies… and finding ways to help them expand their reach through what CILISOS has to offer.
- You’ll help with monitoring, tracking and analysing results for past and current campaigns.
Here’s what you need:
- We’re not even gonna try sugar-coating this with fancy words. You need KIASUness. You gotta have the ability and drive to sell, make money, and bring success to yourself and the team.
- Not only that, you’re always trying to be a better version of yourself. Always trying to improve, going the extra mile, learning more than you already know – an addict of self-progress.
- But at the same time you gotta have a collaborative spirit who can work independently or with a team.
- A resilient attitude – you’ll need to be confident, determined, and be able to cope with rejection.
- Knowledge in commercial, sales and marketing. Knowledge of the local publishing industry.
- Ability to deal with all sorts of people with different personalities, moods, and way of working.
- Decent writing skills.
Fluency in a foreign language would be helpful! And it would be an added advantage if you share our values: love good and responsible content, and not being an asshole.
