Selangor Launches 2025 Hawkers & Small Traders Day

Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), through Yayasan MBI in collaboration with the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ), today launched the  Selangor State-level Hawkers & Small Traders Day 2025, an annual initiative that focuses  on strengthening the role of small traders as one of the key drivers of the state’s economy.

The two-day event brings together more than 200 micro and small entrepreneurs from  across Selangor, involving participation from 12 Local Authorities (PBT), government  agencies, and strategic partners. It is expected to attract more than 15,000 visitors, making  it one of the state’s largest platforms dedicated to community economic development.

With the theme “Hawkers & Small Traders as Drivers of Selangor’s Digital Economy,” this year’s event emphasises increased use of technology, digital transactions, and the  ability of small traders to adapt to changes in the current market.

The launching ceremony was officiated by YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari, Dato’  Menteri Besar Selangor, who reiterated the state government’s commitment to  developing a sustainable and inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem aligned with the growth  of the digital economy.

This celebration also highlights the implementation of entrepreneurship initiatives  announced under the Selangor Budget 2026, particularly the rollout of AGROPLATS  Biaya Plus-i, a micro-financing scheme without interest for small entrepreneurs.

Under the budget:

  • The AGROPLATS Biaya Plus-i scheme will be offered to 600 PLATS  entrepreneurs
  • 0% profit rate financing
  • Financing period of up to 7 years
  • Financing amount of up to RM10,000

The two-day programme also provides opportunities for small traders to market their products, access information on entrepreneur support, and participate in capacity-building activities.

Among the activities featured:

  • Digital entrepreneur exhibitions and sales
  • Screening of the Selangor Digital Hawkers montage
  • Ehsan Rahmah sales
  • Remote-controlled helicopter showcase
  • PLATS Kitchen with celebrities
  • Junior Chef competition
  • Selangor Hawkers Appreciation Awards 2025 by Yayasan MBI • Collaborative activities with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM)
