A Taste of Tradition This Ramadan at Resorts World Awana’s “Iftar Pahang Timur-Barat”
s the holy month of Ramadan approaches, Resorts World Awana invites guests to embrace the spirit of togetherness through its specially curated dining experience, “Iftar Pahang Timur-Barat.” Inspired by the familiar flavours and food traditions of Pahang, the buffet is designed to bring families, friends and communities together in celebration of the season.
Guests begin their iftar journey with a dedicated kurma counter, offering a selection of both imported and locally sourced dates — a customary way to break the fast. This is followed by a delightful dessert showcase themed “Semanis Tradisi, Selembut Dirasa,” featuring a wide variety of heritage kuih. Among the highlights are beloved classics such as kuih lapis, onde-onde, seri muka, akok, bingka, tepung pelita, and badak berendam, offering diners a nostalgic taste of Malaysia’s rich culinary traditions. Fresh local fruits and Nyonya-style pickles further complement the spread, alongside comforting bowls from the Bubur Warisan Pahang station serving familiar Ramadan favourites enjoyed across generations.
Throughout the dining space, guests will find culinary stations inspired by the towns, coastlines and vibrant street food culture associated with Pahang. Signature roasted meats take centre stage at the Champion Kambing Golek station, while the Celup Tepung Beserah counter offers freshly fried seafood. Diners can also savour aromatic soups served with Benggali bread.

Weekend visitors will be treated to grilled seafood inspired by the famous coastal flavours of Tanjung Lumpur, while other stations present a lively selection of street-inspired favourites including satay, otak-otak, murtabak, roti john, shawarma, nasi kandar selections, fried snacks, noodle dishes, laksa and many more.
At the heart of the buffet are rotating main-course selections that celebrate comforting local cooking traditions. Diners can indulge in hearty dishes such as rendang tok, ayam masak merah, ayam kerutuk, gulai kawah daging, patin masak tempoyak, singgang daging, and a variety of curry favourites. These are paired with fragrant rice selections and classic vegetable dishes that complete the wholesome meal.
To end the evening on a refreshing note, guests can enjoy cooling desserts including ice cream, ais batu campur and cendol, alongside popular beverages such as sirap bandung, teh tarik, fruit-based drinks and other local thirst quenchers. Altogether, the dining experience captures the spirit of abundance, gratitude and togetherness while celebrating Malaysia’s diverse culinary heritage.
