Most of you guys probably have a water purifier at home, but here’s the lowdown: not all water purifiers are made equal. Some just have a simple carbon filter, and others have multi-step filtration systems. But what’s the advantage of a canggih filtration system, though?
As it happens, our friends over at Acer sent us their Acerpure Aqua WP1 Water Purifier, and they told us it can purify any liquid into water, so we thought this is the perfect opportunity to put its 3-step filtration system through some extreme testing.
And after experimenting with four contenders:
- Sparkling Water
- Sweetened coffee
- Sirap Ros
- Cola
…the results were not what we expected at all. To kick it off…
1. Sparkling Water
Y’all know how sparkling water has this ‘unique’ bitterness to it? That’s because the carbon dioxide that’s infused into the water for fizziness also gives it a slightly bitter taste.
While the Acerpure Aqua WP1 couldn’t totally get rid of the sparkling water’s bitterness, it did manage to drastically reduce it, and made its taste almost indistinguishable from plain water. Most of its fizziness was also filtered out.
For a relatively mild starting point, that wowed us quite a bit and made us more curious as to what the water purifier could do with…
2. Sweetened Coffee
Next, we made a super strong batch of coffee for the test, sweetened with 1kg of sugar. It’s so kaw that anyone who drank it would be jittering all day.
We didn’t know what to expect when filling the Acerpure Aqua WP1’s tank with this pitch-black liquid, but as if by magic, it dispensed what appeared to be clear water. Not a hint of brown or black.
And for the taste test, the sugar that we added to the coffee was pretty much entirely filtered out, and there was only a very, very faint flavour of coffee left.
3. Sirap Ros
Taking things up a notch, we added diabetic levels of sugar to this kenduri staple before pouring the concoction into the Acerpure Aqua WP1. One of our colleagues had a sip of the Sirap Ros, and she exclaimed:
“OOIIIII MANIS GILA!” – Ain, CILISOS video editor
The sweetness was one thing, but we also added an entire bottle of cordial to the mix, which made it smell like a herbaceous rose garden. We legitimately thought we’d taste it in the filtered water, but boy, were we wrong. This round of testing had the best result, because the purified liquid looked and tasted just like plain water.
Setting aside the fact that we wasted RM13’s worth of cordial, the results blew us out of the water.
4. Cola
As we were preparing to load the Acerpure Aqua WP1 with the cola, one of our colleagues jokingly said:
“If the water purifier betul-betul can turn this into water, I’ll pay you all RM1 each,” – Dee, CILISOS video producer
Well, guess who lost RM14? None of the cola’s colour, flavour, nor sweetness was left. Also, y’all know how cola has this acidic bite to it? That’s been purified as well.
The water tasted vaguely like sparkling water, but heck, that’s already mantap enough, considering that cola is a carbonated liquid that’s pitch black and sweeter than Siti Nurhaliza’s smile.
Having put this water purifier through the wringer, we have to say that…
The Acerpure Aqua WP1 works crazy well in purifying water
Yeah, the Acerpure Aqua WP1 Water Purifier lives up to its Taiwan Excellence 2023 Award. It filtered all of our heavy-duty liquids and pretty much turned them into plain drinking water, thanks to its 3-step filtration system that consists of:
- A polypropylene & carbon block composite filter
- A reverse osmosis membrane filter; and
- A granular activated carbon filter
We probably severely shortened our filters’ lifespan with this experiment, so please don’t try it at home. But if you do (please don’t), the water purifier has an indicator light that tells you when the filter needs to be changed.
Real talk though, with its real-time total dissolved solids (TDS) water quality monitor and smart wash feature, we’re sure that the Acerpure Aqua WP1 will have ZERO problems filtering the tap water in your homes.
What’s more, its piping-less design means you don’t have to hook it up to any pipes, so there’s no complex installation needed. You can even purify the water that’s stored in your emergency baldi when the occasional water cut happens.
Plus, you won’t have to worry about it running out of water, with its 8.7-litre water tank that also recycles water to decrease water waste by up to 3 times. As long as there’s a plug point nearby, you can use it anywhere, be it your office, kitchen, or even your bedside table.
This water purifier can also dispense water at various temperatures – room temperature, 10°C, or any exact temperature between 45°C to 95° – making it perfect for a cold beverage, or a cup of piping hot instant noodles.
So, yeah, if you guys are amazed by the Acerpure Aqua WP1 as much as we are, you can actually grab it here on Acer Malaysia’s own online store at a discounted RM2,999, down from its usual price of RM3,599. What’s more, you’ll also get an Acerpure Cozy Fan F1 and Acerpure Clean V1 Lite vacuum worth RM1,198 for FREE, plus an additional 2-year warranty on your water purifier!
But don’t wait, the promo only lasts till 31st December 2023! Visit your nearest Acer concept store or check out this link to grab the promo deal.
