Bananabro generously dishes out 500 charity meals to KL homeless

Malaysian banana leaf cuisine chain BananaBro took a big step in the fight against hunger by feeding 500 homeless people in Kuala Lumpur in mid-December.

The move was the successful execution of their Zero Hunger initiative in collaboration with Sunway University, where they aimed to sell 500 “Buy 1 Craving Set, 1 Craving Set goes to Charity” vouchers at a booth on University grounds.

Customers bought 248 vouchers, redeeming their vouchers at BananaBro’s Sunway Pyramid outlet. Despite the lower number of vouchers sold, BananaBro ensured their target of 500 homeless people fed on December 16.

“At BananaBro, we embrace the UN’s goal of ‘Ending hunger and ensuring access to safe, nutritious food for all people’ by 2023,” said BananaBro CEO Aaron Gan.

“By uniting our efforts, we are sowing the seeds of a hunger-free world and forging a path towards a brighter, nourished future. Together, we are committed to making zero hunger a tangible reality.”

The collaboration was with SESO (Save Environment Save Ourselves), an NGO working with KL City Hall (DBKL) that looks into feeding the capital’s homeless, which added credibility to their commitment, emphasizing their dedication to community impact.

Thanking everyone who contributed to the Zero Hunger initiative, Bananabro pledged continued collaboration with like-minded organizations in the future.
