FedEx Malaysia adds electrical vehicles for deliveries to reduce environmental impact

Courier services have made our lives easier, ensuring that important documents, items, and gifts alike are delivered no matter how far the distance is. When this writer first started selling secondhand K-Pop albums, courier services were godsend to, well… send her pre-loved Monsta X albums to its new owner.

And now, you can also be further assured that your deliveries aren’t adding to the carbon footprint since FedEx has recently announced the addition of electric vehicles (EV) in Malaysia.

FedEx added electric vehicles to its fleet in Malaysia

The name FedEx is synonymous with courier services as they’re one of the world’s largest express transportation companies that provides delivery to more than 220 countries and territories. Not only that, it also uses a global air-and-ground network to shorten the delivery time so that you can receive your parcel within one or two business days if needed.

Well, FedEx has now added electric vehicles (EVs) to its fleet in Malaysia as an initiative to reduce carbon footprint and improve air quality in urban areas. Apparently, the first two EVs incorporated were successfully used for pick-up and delivery operations within the Klang Valley area. As a result of this, FedEx sees the potential in expanding its EV fleet.

“We recognise the benefits of EVs in reducing CO2 emissions and are taking steps to integrate them into our operations. Our actions support the Malaysian government’s strong commitment to promote EVs to mitigate the effects of climate change and achieve net zero nationality by 2050.” – Tien-Long Woon, Managing Director of FedEx Express Malaysia and Thailand.
