Goodday Charge just opened Malaysia’s 1st all ages, inclusive eSports gym
Maybe once, you had that wild dream of getting paid to read books, play video games, or even sleep. But one look from your dad and suddenly the only options were doctor or lawyer 🙄. We can’t speak for the bookworms or the professional nappers out there, but gaming? Don’t put those dreams to rest yet guys, cos this career option is actually starting to look legit.
Thanks to Goodday Charge, Malaysia now has its first-ever inclusive esports gym – the Goodday Charge Arena powered by Orange Esports Club. It was officially launched on October 14th with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Pia Lisa, Marketing Manager at Etika Sdn Bhd, and Adrian Gaffor, Co-Founder and owner of The Gaming Company.
Safe to say, the gaming scene here is leveling up. So the next time your dad says esports isn’t a real sport, tell him to hold onto his keyboard cos…
This gym proves that gaming is more than just kids sitting on couches all day
Okay lah, no one’s bench pressing a joystick here (that we know of), but the Goodday Charge Arena is all about that healthy esports lifestyle. Set up on Level 6 of Quill City Mall in KL, this 2,500 sqft space is a gamer’s paradise with top-tier tech. It’s packed with everything from PC stations to gaming consoles to racing simulators and mobile lounges.
And they’re not just catering to the usual crowd. Every Tuesday is Boomers2Gamers Day, where seniors get to play for free. This means esports isn’t just for kids with RGB keyboards and flashy mousepads, but for everyone, including your Pak Cik who probably just learned what a “noob” is.
“Goodday Charge has always been committed to transforming the way esports is perceived, and the launch of this arena marks another step in that journey. By creating an inclusive space for people of all ages to explore esports, we are not only redefining healthy gaming but also fostering a community that spans generations,” – Amy Gan, VP of Marketing at Etika Sdn Bhd
Now we know what you’re thinking. Goodday is best known for its chocolate milk. So um… what’s up with this random esports arena? Good question!
Goodday Charge is here to change how people think about esports entirely
The concept is like this: Gaming can be a workout for both the brain and body at any age. Just like traditional athletes, esports players need the right support and training too. So the way your fav badminton player needs to fuel up before their match, esports players need the right nutrients and energy for hours of focus and reaction time.
Which they can get from a choco milk like this!
Drinks aside, Goodday Charge sees esports as a real opportunity for people of all ages to be a part of something bigger. We’re talking team spirit, strategy and competition, all while staying connected with the digital world. And if you’re thinking this is just more marketing fluff, Boomers2Gamers proves otherwise.
The initiative is actually the result of Goodday Charge’s search for Malaysia’s first senior esports team, Team eMAS✨. If you’re keen, Charge Arena is hosting a Watch Party with an exclusive preview of the Boomers2Gamers series, which follows the atuk-atuk and puan-puan from Team eMAS on their journey.
Apart from that, the Arena also hosts workshops for young gamers interested in the esports industry, whether they’re looking to go pro or work in gaming content. You could even get the chance play with some of Malaysia’s top live streamers like Andrew ‘Stonkol69’ and ‘Abangkepuk’ and even Team eMAS.
But if gaming is just a hobby to you or if you just wanna see what all the hype is about and get some freebies along the way…
The grand opening of Goodday Charge Arena comes with a ton of perks
There are not one, but two contests running from right now till the end of November:
- the Goodday Charge Esports Month Contest, where RM70,000 worth of prizes, like a PS5, JBL headphones and Predator gaming laptop, are up for grabs at selected stores and on Etika’s TikTok store.
- the Charge Arena Contest, where all you need to do is snap your best shot of the arena, and you might score a PS5 or TNG e-wallet credits.
If November is a bit too soon, no worries. The Arena’s got prizes all year around. For those who love a good competition, don’t miss the Charge Racing Sim Challenge. Fastest lap times will win you goodies like 8 hours of FREE play, a carton of Goodday Charge, and a shoutout on social media. But say you’re not the “speed is king” type, you can still get an extra hour of free play if you just buy any Goodday Charge drink.
The Goodday Charge Arena is open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM, so you’ve got plenty of time to swing by, level up your gaming skills or just hang out. You can drop by anytime and pay an hourly charge, no fancy membership needed.
