Can’t go to Japan? InterContinental’s cherry blossom-themed menu brings Japan to you!

If you’re a lowkey weeb interested in Japan, you may know that currently the cherry blossoms are in bloom! They’re a pretty sight to behold, but going to Japan is pretty expensive. Fortunately, from 20 to 27 April, you can save a few thousand ringgit and still have the experience by tasting a cherry blossom-themed menu!

InterContinental Kuala Lumpur’s signature Japanese restaurant, Tatsu Japanese Cuisine, has unveiled the Hanami Festival dining collection. Crafted by Tatsu’s Executive Chef Tommy Kuan and Japanese Guest Chef Kazuhiko Kojima, it’s a collection of wonderful dishes inspired by Japan’s cherry blossoms, also made with the freshest ingredients sourced from the country itself!

There’s 4 culinary journeys to choose from, the themed a la carte, 2 curated 5-course set menus, the Hanami Omakase, and the Sakura Wine Dinner.

The Sakura Wine Dinner is a special one-time experience — held only on the evening of 25 April, patrons will be served a meticulously crafted Sakura-themed 5-course menu where each dish is also paired with wines specially curated by Caldbeck Macgregor Sommelier, Dibin Chin!

The menu includes an assortment of 5 types of Cherry Blossom Appetisers paired with the delicate and glossy Ruffino Rosatello NV. The Grilled Sakura Trout with Miso with be paired with the complex, rich notes of the Ogier ‘Heritages’ Cotes du Rhone Blanc 2021.

The heavier Roasted Angus Sirloin with Sakura Salt is paired with a wine that delivers a heavier punch — the layered and complex Robert Mondavi P.S Carbernet Sauvignon 2019. End your decadent indulgence on a light and sweet note with the Sakura White Chocolate Mousse, Strawberry Crème with Financier.
