Sunlight is nurturing women entrepreneurship with the Tangan Tangan Terer programme

While Sunlight believes that “one drop is enough”, they don’t believe that for women — they believe that women are made for more, and aim to help them achieve their ambitions. So, with the aim of providing women from underserved communities the opportunity to realise their potential to #JadiLebihLadi, Sunlight Malaysia is running the Tangan Tangan Terer programme in partnership with Ibupreneur Malaysia. While only 8 women can participate, this programme has received an overwhelming response of 395 applicants nationwide.

“We firmly believe that through this programme, more women will be inspired through these graduates to reach the stars and they too will be empowered to embark on a transformative journey to reinvent their future and pursue sustainable livelihoods,” — Hong Ee Fen, Homecare Lead for Unilever Malaysia and Singapore.

The Tangan Tangan Terer programme, which is supported by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, launched in July 2023 and will be seeing its second phase begin in April. The programme aims to give 8 handpicked women the tools to realise their entrepreneurship dreams through 10 educational modules taught by industry experts designed to give them a hands-on experience into product development, digital marketing, legal and sales, financial management, and more.

After 2 months of intensive upskilling opportunities, the programme culminated in January with the 8 women poised to embark on their ambitions with Tangan Tangan Terer as the springboard to their road to entrepreneurship.

Nur Nadhirah, founder of Nurhalwa.co that sells tudung bawal, is one of the programme’s top 3 finalists. She accredits the programme for giving her the opportunity and education to develop entrepreneurship skillsets, allowing her to transform her business idea into reality.

“I learned a lot through this programme and it was a humbling journey to go through the training alongside the other participants. I learned more about my own personal strengths and gained valuable insights on how to improve on my weaknesses which will help me in my entrepreneurship journey,” — Nur Nadhirah.

Phase 2 of Tangan Tangan Terer will begin in April, and they’re aiming to reach 800 Malaysian women to turn into powerful entrepreneurs that can not only contribute more to their family, but to the community and nation. There will be more details on phase 2 to follow, so visit the website for more information!
