Vote for your fave “sedap!” restaurant in GrabFood’s 5-Star Awards
Malaysians, it’s time to makan and mengundi! The GrabFood 5-Star Awards are making their highly-anticipated return for 2024, and this year, it’s bigger, better, and definitely sedap-er. With 148 of the top-rated restaurants across six mouthwatering categories, the awards are basically like Malaysia’s food Oscars—only with more sambal.
Your vote can boost small businesses
Here’s where things get exciting: YOU get to decide who wins. GrabFood users across the country can vote for their favourite restaurants until 5 February 2025. Whether you’re repping your trusty nasi lemak stall or backing the café that makes desserts so sinful you need to pray afterwards, your vote matters. Winners will be crowned on 19 February 2025, so let’s put Malaysia’s best on the map!
“Our ratings and reviews feature is a prime example of how we add value for both consumers and merchants—helping consumers discover new restaurants while providing an avenue for businesses to engage and reach a wider segment of eaters.”
Jiong Jian Tan, Director of Commercial and Deliveries, Grab Malaysia
But this isn’t just about makan (though, let’s be honest, that’s the best part). The awards also highlight how small businesses—many of them family-run—get a boost. Winning isn’t just a shiny trophy moment; it’s a game-changer.
Stories from previous GrabFood 5-Stars winners
Remember The Container from Kuching? They bagged the Best Western Food category last year and saw their business skyrocket. Owner Kho Sing Hak shared, “It increased our visibility and brought in customers who trust that our food is top-notch.”
Over in Johor Bahru, Haliza Halim of Nasi Ayam Kee Chup saw a similar boom after clinching the Best Malaysian Food title. She called Grab “a platform that helped us grow and be known even in Singapore.”
91% of Malaysians use GrabFood to discover new makan places
In case you didn’t know, GrabFood isn’t just about delivering nasi goreng to your doorstep. It’s a whole ecosystem. According to Grab’s 2023 Food and Grocery Trends report, 91% of Malaysians use Grab to discover new makan places. And those customer reviews? They’re gold. Since written reviews were introduced in 2022, Malaysians have penned 13.5 million reviews! That’s a lot of makan-induced typing.
This feedback isn’t just for the makan puas hati crowd—it’s a treasure trove for merchants. With Grab’s digital tools, small businesses can analyse reviews, track performance, and turn makan data into $$$.
Turn your voice into a vote

Plus, you get to be part of something uniquely Malaysian—celebrating food, culture, and community in one go.
