1000 cyclists registered for PKNS inaugural Selangor International Race 2023
Interesting fact – did you know that bikes are actually more common around the world than cars? Although that infamously isn’t the case in Malaysia, the Selangor State Development Corporation, otherwise known as PKNS, is on a mission to change that through the Selangor International Race 2023, a road cycling event slated to take place on the 25th of June.
Aligning with PKNS’ vision of creating a better life, the event aims to promote sports tourism and encourage healthier, active lifestyles. To realize this, the race will bring participants through routes meticulously planned to achieve those goals.

Participants will journey over 100 km throughout Selangor
The journey itself will take participants through many of Selangor’s countryside, totaling up to a distance of 145 km. Beginning at PKNS’ Shah Alam Headquarters, the route will include a 30 km stretch of windy, easy-going flat terrain and eventually passing by many notable landmarks and cultural sites.
Among them includes the Kota Puteri Township developed by PKNS, the historic coal mining town of Batu Arang, the bountiful Selangor Fruit Valley and Kampung Kuantan, famously known for their seasonal fireflies.

Personally committed to the race, PKNS CEO, Dato’ Mahmud Abbas will himself actively participate in the race via a special 20 km VIP ride along from the flag off. This provides him with the unique opportunity to connect with fellow cyclists and experience the exhilaration of the race first-hand.

As a testament to Dato’ Mahmud’s confidence, registrations for the race have been closed after swiftly reaching the target goal of 1000 contestants. PKNS thanks all participants and sponsors including Decathlon, BS Fitness, and Central Spectrum for the immense support towards bringing the Selangor International Race 2023 into reality.
Experience the atmosphere of the event even as a non-participant!
A day before race day on the 24th of June, 2023, no matter cycling enthusiast or public member, everyone is invited to the PKNS Headquarters in Shah Alam to experience the atmosphere of the event. Exciting sessions such as cycling clinics, workshops and retail booths will be held from 10 am to 6 pm for all.
Moreover, participants of the race may also collect their designated race kits on the same day from 10 am to 6 pm as well at Block B, PKNS Shah Alam Headquarters.
