Josiah Mizukami: Ex-Miss World Malaysia host who started a cult and got arrested

You can find almost anything on Youtube these days, from North Korean vloggers to poodles exercising to a 37-year-old guy who claims to be God and talks about some really gross stuff.

Meet Josiah Mizukami, the man behind the Youtube channel, The Purpose with Josiah G. Mizukami. His videos have since been taken down, but not before they made their rounds and got called out by the Youtube community. For those curious enough to check them out, they still exist on the Internet, but brace yourselves cos they’re pretty disturbing. And long-winded. Like in that cure for cancer video he goes on and on about animal slaughtering.

Mizukami was finally arrested in January this year for being a…

Surprise, it’s Pedobear!

…but perhaps what’s also shocking is that he’s actually a recognizable name among Malaysians, having lived and worked here since the 2000’s.

He appeared on local TV shows as a host and model

Born with mixed Japanese-American heritage, Mizukami began his entertainment career in Thailand before making his way to Malaysia. Most notably, he was the emcee for the 2009 Miss World Malaysia event and in 2011, was voted Cleo’s Most Eligible Bachelor. You might also recognize Mizukami from the 2012 TV show Hot Guys Who Cook, where he was a cast member alongside race-car driver Alex Yoong and actor Henry Goulding, among others.

With all those accolades under his belt, it was no surprise that Mizukami continued to make minor but regular appearances in local media and news. From 2009 to 2015, his name cropped up in fashion interviews, an Insider TV‘s guide around KL and a program called Football Overload, a football-centric talk show on Astro Supersport that 90s kids will probably remember.

It’s interesting to note that most of the comments under these videos describe Mizukami as a charming man and that they never expected to see him turn into a chylde predatawr with a God-complex.

Welp, that’s what they always say. Screenshots taken from Youtube @Football Overload TV @Insider TV Kuala Lumpur & @SP Models Entertainment

Ehm, back up, rewind, he did what now?

Mizukami eventually got Chris Hansen-ed

As far as traps go, this one was pretty elaborate. The whole thing was kickstarted by Twitter user @BxBulletTV (now on private) who shed light on Mizukami’s peadofylic behaviour.

The case was then picked up by a man named Alex Rosen (who goes by @PP Southeast Texas on Youtube and @iFightForKids on Twitter). He calls himself a preydatoh poacher, which according to him, is someone who confronts chaeeld pradetoz and brings them to public attention.

Rosen designed a set-up where he got Mizukami to admit in a recorded conversation, that he would gladly do a child as young as 5.

“If the 5-year-old says yes, they’re actually giving their democratic vote and that is their right, so as long as it is harm-free, it is perfect,” — Mizukami to Rosen in a video call.

After that convo, Rosen went undercover on Instagram as a 5-year-old and 13-year-old (as 2 separate accounts), basically catfishing Mizukami for a period of 3 months. Their messages consisted of equal parts preachy and creepy stuff, but the bottom line is that Mizukami took the bait and wanted to meet ‘Rosen’ for sex. So Rosen flew out to Hawaii where Mizukami was residing at the time. He confronted Mizukami with his evidence and...

The cops arrested Mizukami and he’s currently in custody

In a Youtube video uploaded by @RoyalOnAir, Mizukami’s arrest records can be seen.

The document states that he’s been charged with 2 offences i.e, promoting pohnogeramfi for minohs and electronic enticement of a child. One of that is a class B felony which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years and the other is a class C, which carries a max sentence of 5 years. But just FYI, that document is apparently exclusive to victims, witnesses and legal representatives so if yall wanna search it up, do it at your own risk.

Ugh, scary. Image screenshot from VINELink

It’s also worth noting that there hasn’t been a lot of coverage on this event and the sources we have may not be 100% accurate. So until we get a verified report, take everything here with a pinch of salt.
