There’s a lot of motorcycles zipping past us in Malaysia, where they make up for 46.6% of all registered vehicles in the nation. That ranks us as the 4th country with the highest motorcycle use. Besides the affordability, it’s faster to weave through traffic in a motorcycle. We might as well rank 1st place as a country that loves to potong.
However, Malaysia does rank 1st place in having the highest road fatality risk in Southeast Asia, with motorcyclists making up 59%. For a country with so many motorcyclists and high motorcycle fatality rates, there’s a protection gap amongst them.
To give motorcyclists and their families a wider safety net, FWD Takaful Berhad (FWD Takaful) and AEON Insurance Brokers (M) Sdn. Bhd. (AIBM) have partnered up to offer a complimentary micro-takaful plan. This Plan gives a RM20,000 compensation in case the motorcycle owner dies an accidental death, or RM8,000 for death due to natural causes, so that their loved ones will have a financial safety net in case the unexpected happens.
By complimentary plan, that means it’s FREE to those who bought their motorcycles from AIBM’s motorcycle merchants!
No medical checkup needed, plus a straightforward claims process.
As part of FWD’s efforts to simplify insurance for Malaysians, the Plan provides a straightforward claims process that allows customers to be covered automatically without undergoing a medical checkup. According to Salim Majid Zain, Chief Executive Officer of FWD Takaful, the Plan is “designed to be accessible and inclusive, catering to the underserved segment of motorcyclists.”
If something happens to you (knock on wood), the Plan offers temporary financial relief to your family, which can be a blessing if you’re the household’s breadwinner.
“This partnership will also enable us to do our part in closing the protection gap amongst Malaysians by providing innovative protection products and solutions and support Bank Negara Malaysia’s target to increase the protection penetration rate to 75%, for both conventional and takaful segment,” Salim Majid Zain.
As Bruce Chen, CEO of AIBM puts it, motorcyclists have traditionally been offered accessories, so it’s high time they’re offered something more valuable.
