Malaysian schools can win a whopping USD100,000 with AIA Healthiest Schools

The AIA Healthiest Schools (AHS) programme is back for its second year here, welcoming schools from all over Malaysia to participate in a one-of-a-kind initiative aimed at fostering health and wellness within school communities.

What are the AHS workshops about?

AIA Malaysia’s education partner, LeapEd, provides hands-on workshops to help teachers effortlessly incorporate and adapt the AHS programme into their existing teaching plans. From introducing mindful practices into everyday routines to encouraging healthy eating habits, the interactive workshops provide tangible methods for creating a healthier school environment. Teachers gain practical, easy-to-implement strategies and techniques for helping their kids develop resilience and positive mental health.

This year’s AHS workshops kicked off in Klang Valley and Perlis. The first phase of the workshops, held in October, was aimed at assisting teachers to explore free resources such as structured lesson plans, engaging activities, interactive games, and short films. The second phase, commencing in December, will focus on guiding and preparing teachers to develop outstanding entries for the AHS competition.

Help your school secure USD100,000!!

To further inspire participating schools to showcase their impact and success in producing better health outcomes among students, the AHS initiative also includes a competition that provides rewards of up to USD100,000. This project, supported by the Ministry of Education, is open to all Malaysian primary and secondary schools (government, private, and foreign), and it is completely free.

In the program’s first year, more than 35 entries were received from schools across Malaysia for the AHS Competition, with 18 schools honoured for their outstanding efforts in promoting health and wellness through innovative and impactful projects. SK Putrajaya Presint 11(1) and SMK Convent Butterworth became the top winners in the primary and secondary categories, respectively.

Notably, SK Putrajaya Presint 11(1) distinguished itself on the regional stage by being declared the regional winner of the AIA Healthiest Schools Competition, outperforming winning schools in five other AIA markets and being awarded a whopping USD100,000. Their standout project featured the ‘HELPIE’ health mobile app, which promotes mental health awareness through interactive tools, games, and campaigns while also educating students to recognise and manage stress.

Your sekolah could be the next winners! Entries for the AHS competition are open until March 8, 2025. If your schools are interested, register and learn more about AHS here, where educational resources are also available for free.
