Disney is launching its biggest cruise from Singapore… with Robert Downey Jr as Godparent?!
Disney is bringing its biggest cruise ship yet to Southeast Asia, with the new Disney Adventure set to sail from Singapore next month. Aaaand ahead of its maiden voyage, the company announced that Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. will serve as the ship’s godparent 😮😮😮.
The Disney Adventure will be the largest vessel in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, and notably the first to homeport in Singapore — making it the closest Disney cruise experience for many travellers in the region.
“Our new ship continues Disney Cruise Line’s tradition of bringing great stories to life at sea, and we are honored that Robert Downey Jr., who has guided audiences through unforgettable Marvel stories, is the official godparent for the Disney Adventure,” – Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences and incoming CEO of The Walt Disney Company.
Most of us would know RDJ as Tony Stark/Iron Man as his portrayal helped anchor the Marvel Cinematic Universe, now the highest-grossing film franchise of all time. His run as the character culminated in Avengers: Endgame, which grossed over US$2.79 billion worldwide. Named a Disney Legend in 2019, Downey is also set to return to the MCU as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, arriving in cinemas this December.

The Disney Adventure brings Disney’s 100+ years of storytelling onboard through seven themed areas, including several Marvel-focused experiences. At Marvel Landing on the upper decks, guests can ride the first roller coaster on a Disney Cruise Line ship, Tony Stark’s Ironcycle Test Run, which also happens to be the longest at sea. The open-air Disney Imagination Garden will host the live “Avengers Assemble!” stunt show, while the Oceaneer Club’s Marvel WEB Workshop lets young guests test superhero suit prototypes in simulated training missions.
The ship will also feature Disney cruise staples such as character encounters, Broadway-style shows, themed staterooms and concierge experiences, alongside more than 20 dining and lounge venues offering international and Asian-inspired cuisine.
