Cuktech 10 Plus review: An affordable laptop power bank

If you aren’t familiar with the name Cuktech, I don’t blame ya. The power(bank) player is relatively new to the Malaysian market, promising great quality at great prices. The Cuktech 10 Plus is the middle child of their 10 series of power banks capable of charging laptops.

Let’s get this out of the way first. Yes, Cuktech sounds like technology that helps another man plug his charging cable into your wife’s USB-A port. This will be the main reaction you’ll get when anyone asks what brand of power bank you’re using.

But that’s also it: the Cuktech 10 Plus catches eyeballs. It got a couple of people asking me about it while I was charging my laptop. Mostly, it’s because they don’t expect a laptop power bank to be so small. They also don’t expect it to cost under RM150.

The Cuktech 10 Plus is a sleek 15,000mAh power bank with portability in mind

The Cuktech 10 Plus is an even rectangular cuboid measuring 153.7 x 34.8 x 51 millimeters. The specs don’t state the weight, but my kitchen scale chalks it at 347 grams. Perhaps due to the weight distribution, it doesn’t feel much heavier than my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (228g).

This makes it fairly easy to hold and store in a bag, or even a pocket if you’re forced to.

While there is some measure of portability for use on-the-go, it’s a power bank that’s ideally used at a table or when you’re stationary. This is reinforced by the textured back that provides extra grip on tables, and prevents any scratches from setting it down.

Being “airline safe” is part of the Cuktech 10 Plus’s selling points, even including a sticker telling you as such. However, this is only true once upon a time. With airlines introducing additional rules about carrying and using power banks, you’ll want to check with your airline instead of taking it at face value.

Other than the display panel, the entire unit is made from plastic with solid construction – no flexing or creaky joints here.

Using it as my primary power bank for the past 3 weeks, I have a newfound appreciation for the display. For one, it’s nice to have granular information such as remaining percentage and charging estimation times.

The geekier information like charging speed is not as functional, except for some specific use-cases like testing cables or, well, writing this review. The numbers are also pretty accurate, barring small discrepancies due to energy loss in transmission.

While Cuktech provides a USB-C to C cable in the box, there are no integrated charging cables. You will need to pack those separately. Speaking of cables…

The Cuktech 10 Plus supports up to 120W charging speeds (with the right cables)

You can charge up to 3 devices at a time, with 2 USB-C ports and 1 USB-A. The Cuktech 10 Plus supports a wide range of fast-charging protocols including PD, PPS, and is optimized for brands such as Xiaomi, Samsung, and Apple.

You can charge 3 devices simultaneously (but at reduced speeds)

However, your cable – even the one that came with the phone – may not be capable of supporting these charging speeds. For example, my Samsung Z Flip 5’s cable doesn’t support super-fast charging. Instead, I have to use a third-party cable from Anker or the shorter cable that comes in the box. It’s something to keep in mind if you’re getting the Cuktech 10 Plus to fast-charge your phone.

For my Macbook Air M2, I was able to get close to the maximum 67W fast-charging speed using a MagSafe 3 cable. The 15,000mAh gave the MacBook almost a full charge (~85%) which works out to another day of use. I’d imagine you’d be getting much less on a gaming laptop though. 15,000 mAh is not a lot when it comes to laptops.

The Cuktech 10 Plus is also the coolest power bank I’ve used, temperature-wise. It doesn’t heat up with regular use or while charging, and is only slightly warm when you have 3 devices plugged into it.

As for charging itself, the Cuktech 10 Plus is equally as quick – again with the right equipment. With my 65W charger and equivalent cable, it takes about 75-90 minutes to charge from 0% – 100%. The device itself is able to charge at 100W but sadly, I don’t have a 100W charger on hand to test it.

The 10 Plus also supports pass-through charging, so you can simultaneously charge your other devices while charging the power bank itself.

At RM130, there’s a lot of value to be found

Cuktech 10 Plus

So far, the Cuktech 10 Plus is only available on Shopee and Lazada. As with these platforms, the prices tend to fluctuate depending on promotions and vouchers. At the time of writing, its price is RM130.41 on Shopee and RM140.90 on Lazada – without vouchers. In the box, Cuktech also includes a 0.5m USB-C to USB-C charging cable and a soft carry pouch.

As a power bank, I have no complaints about the Cuktech 10 Plus. It hits the right notes with portability, build quality, and charging. The only concern I have is bloating and loss of capacity over time – something I’ve encountered with too many power banks in the past – but it’ll require months of use to tell.

If you can get the Cuktech 10 Plus at any price under RM130, I’ll say you’ve found yourself a great deal.
