Ergowork’s new flagship store is postured to help Malaysians with their…uh… posture.

When we received an invitation to attend the launch of Ergowork’s new flagship store at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, it was an immediate RSVP since we know the (back)pain of working on a computer for hours on end. Plus we were hoping to get a free ergonomic office chair as a door gift.

Realistically, we definitely didn’t get an ergonomic chair, but we got something much more valuable instead – effective tips from Ergoworks founder Joseph Tan as he took us on a tour around the store.

Founded in Singapore in 2005, Ergoworks became Asia’s leading brand in holistic ergonomic, posture care, and wellness solutions; with their flagship stores serving as one-stop holistic centers that offer high-quality ergonomic products which are endorsed by The Chiropractic Association (Singapore) and the Singapore Physiotherapy Association. And in case you’re wondering, it’s not all about work – they offer bedding solutions and other lifestyle products as well.

But first, here are some FREE tips you can use right now!

While he demonstrated some of the products available at the store, Joseph Tan dropped some hot tips that ended up working for us when we tried it back in the office:

  • The ideal distance between you and a monitor is one arms-length apart
  • Looking straight ahead, your eye level should be around the top of the monitor, not the center
  • On a chair, your knee level should ideally be parallel (90 degrees) to your hips
  • Your chair should not cause you to lean forward or lean back, as these inclines put strain on your back

If the last point doesn’t make sense to you, an illustration would be our smol colleague who doesn’t fit most standard office chairs and desk. She either has to sit fully with her back to the chair or lean forward to reach her keyboard on the table – leading to back and shoulder pains.

That’s why Ergoworks offers a variety of adjustable work desks and laptop stands that fits your equipment to you, rather than the other way around. Even their ergonomic chairs come with a feature that provides you with additional support when you move in your seat.

You have to drop by to see some of the other cool stuff they have

Yes, that is a cycling desk so you can work out while you work

From an adjustable standing/sitting desk to ergonomic schoolbags with parachute straps to an egonomic bed; Ergoworks caters for both work, lifestyle, and family:

“We believe in providing a haven for executives and home-owners alike to care for their spinal and posture health. … With Ergoworks finally stepping foot in Malaysia, the brand intends to pave the way for optimum lumbar support, spinal health and posture care while championing comfort in everyday activities through science.” – Joseph Tan

While you can browse their website for the full list of products, it doesn’t beat actually trying them out for yourself – You have to sit and move around in that office chair to see the difference it makes. Best of all, the well-trained staff were on hand to answer our silly questions, showing that they genuinely had our…. backs.
