Have a Malaysian creepy story to tell? Scare us and win the new Cilisos-sos… and cash!!!

We tend to lose track of time because of the MCO and the virus going around, but… what’s this? Can you feel that chill, that cili chill crawling up your spine?

It’s skeleton time! Gif from Tenor.

AUGH YAS! It’s Halloween, bebeh! We may have missed April Fools’ this year, but there’s no way we’re missing Halloween. If you’ve been a long time reader, you would know that we usually put up scary movie posters about the year’s events for Halloween, but this year is so messed up that it just feels like we’re kicking a dead goat between the legs if we do that. So we’re trying something new instead.

This year, we want YOU to scare the pants off of us… through a creepypasta contest! In case you’ve never heard of them before, creepypastas are stories that go around the Internet, specially written to make the reader feel scared, uneasy, or just plain creeped out. You can find a whole bunch of examples through this link. Anyways, what we’re looking for are creepypastas written by Cilisos readers, and to fit our criteria, they have to be:

  • SCARY. Like, real scary. None of that “but who was phone?” stuff.
  • LOCAL. Preferably with Malaysian elements in it, but basically just something that Malaysians can relate to and be scared of. No angmoh ghosts dragging chains along a medieval castle’s corridors, please.
  • ORIGINAL. Some of our writers read creepypastas on a regular basis, so if you’re plagiarizing, better hope they haven’t read it before. You can come up with a totally made up story or one based on real events.
  • SHORT. Anybody can whip up a scary story if they have three pages to do it, just like any Malaysian horror director can make the audience jump if they put in enough jumpscares. Ain’t nobody have time for both of those. For this contest, we’re asking for stories BELOW 150 WORDS.

Wahlao, you might say. Sounds like so much work. What do I get in return?

Well, glad you asked. To arouse the Stephen Kings and Ramlee Awang Murshids in all of y’all, we’re giving out our brand new Cilisos bottles to FIVE writers that made us shiver the most.

These new bottles be wicked.

But wait, there’s more! We’ll also be giving the scariest writer of the five RM200 in cold, hard cash. So what are you waiting for? Fill up the form below! Contest ends on 29th October (Thursday), at 11.59 p.m.
