Ikea’s meatballs just got a new makeover in Malaysia

Malaysians, we need to talk. IKEA’s legendary meatballs – the ultimate post-shopping guilty pleasure – just got an upgrade. Yes, the very same meatballs you’ve been stuffing your face with while pretending to “just look around” at flat-pack furniture have been given a fresh new recipe. But don’t panic! They’re still at the same harga mesra rakyat. Phew.
More TENDER, more JUICY, and still CHEAP
Starting 10 February 2025, IKEA’s Swedish Restaurants nationwide will be serving up this new and improved version of their iconic meatballs. The goal? To make them even more tender, juicier, and bursting with flavour while keeping them as wallet-friendly as ever. According to IKEA Malaysia, a whopping 24.5 million meatballs were sold in 2024 alone, proving that Malaysians are basically in a long-term relationship with these juicy, bouncy balls of joy.

So what’s the damage to your wallet? Still the same great price:
- 8pcs with mashed potatoes & broccoli – RM12
- 12pcs with mashed potatoes & broccoli – RM15.50
- 16pcs with mashed potatoes & broccoli – RM17.90
“We’re always looking for ways to enhance our food offerings and bring more joy to the dining experience. This new recipe is the result of countless hours of development by our passionate team, and we believe it captures the essence of what makes our meatballs so iconic while offering an upgrade for Malaysians to enjoy.”

Get RM 5 vouchers when you order a 16-piece plate
To celebrate this meatball makeover, IKEA is throwing in a RM5 voucher if you order a 16-piece plate. That’s right – eat more meatballs, get rewarded. The voucher can be used on home furnishing items with a minimum spend of RM10, which basically means your meatball feast is helping you buy that fake plant you totally don’t need but will definitely get anyway

This promo runs until 23 February 2025, so if you’re a real meatball stan, now’s the time to test out the new recipe and cash in on that sweet, sweet deal.
But do the IKEA meatballs still slap?
Of course, the real test is in the taste. Will these meatballs still have that OG flavour we know and love? Will they be tender enough to make you shed a single, dramatic tear? Only one way to find out.
So gather your makan gang and head to the nearest IKEA to try the new and improved meatballs. And if you’re feeling generous, ajak lah someone who helped you assemble that IKEA shelf last year – they probably deserve it.
