These JBL sunglasses are actually… really tiny headphones

At the JBL Heart of Sound roadshow at 1Utama, you’d be able to experience and view the full range of earbuds, headphones, and soundbars that the audio company has to offer.

And then you come across… JBL sunglasses?

JBL Soundgear Frame on display

The JBL Soundgear Frames are speakers built into sunglasses

The roadshow offers several interactive sections that cover their range of products, with three being new or receiving an upgrade from its previous generation.

Getting our attention the most is a new product that may either fly under your radar or get you scratching your head is the JBL Soundgear Frame. Appearing like a regular pair of fashionable sunglasses, they actually hide speakers AND a mic in the arms.

While similar to bone conduction headphones, these actually employ open sound technology that provides better audio quality without annoying the people around you. Phones calls are also crystal clear thanks to the 2-mic array with environmental noise cancellation and nonlinear echo suppression.

The Soundgear Frame comes in two shapes, round and square, are IP54 water resistant, and up to 8 hours of playtime. There’s no power switch either – flipping the arms out turns it on, folding the arms turns it off (just like wearing glasses). You may also get a kick out of the charging cable, which is a split USB-C cable to simultaneously charge each arm.

Of course, just like regular sunglasses, you can change the lenses at any optical shop.

JBL’s popular portable speakers and earbuds also get an upgrade

JBL Clip 5 range
Imagine all seven of these playing at once

For example, the JBL Portable Speakers section highlights the upgraded Xtreme 4, Clip 5 and Go 4. Besides cosmetic changes, each speaker now includes Auracast, a multi-speaker connection allowing the same audio to play on different speakers. In the demonstration, you just need to connect your phone to one speaker, and simply push a button on the other Auracast-enabled speakers to have all of them playing in unison. It works within a an unobstructed range of 30 meters, and you can (theoretically) daisychain an unlimited number of speakers.

At the JBL Makes Earbuds location, you can first find out which TWS (True Wireless Stereo) buds best fit you and your lifestyle at the Fit Check wall.

JBL Live Beam 3 TWS

After that, you can be one of the first to experience the new Live Beam 3 TWS, featuring the Smart Charging Case with the 1.45” LED touch display. Essentially, you’ll be able to control music, sound profiles, and other features without touching your phone. It also includes some quality-of-life features such as personalizable wallpaper, a flashlight function, and locating a missing earbud.

Experience these (and more!) at 1 Utama from July 3 – 7

Unfortunately these giant earbuds aren’t for sale

If you’re headed to 1 Utama this weekend, drop by the roadshow at the Old Wing concourse area, where you can also see, touch and – most importantly – HEAR their other cool products. We particularly liked the soundbars with magnetic detachable surround sound speakers that ALSO function as portable speakers.

For something unexpected, they also have a standalone turntable record player which you can purchase at a bundled price with their Classic series speakers.

Otherwise, these products are also available on their website or official stores on Lazada and Shopee

NAH, BACA:
1 Utama tested 6,000 people in 2 days. But that made social distancing difficult.
