Treasure hunting outlaws clash in Magic the Gathering: Outlaws of Thunder Junction
Whenever Magic: the Gathering (MTG) gets mentioned, most people will probably think of spellcasters, knights and dragons, but the game has since expanded into other genres such as murder mysteries. And in just a few days, you’ll be able to live out your wildest, westest, treasure hunter dreams in Outlaws of Thunder Junction.
Outlaws of Thunder Junction will bring old favorites and new surprises
That’s right, this new set will be released on 19 April, and has a wild west/treasure hunter theme.
Players familiar with MTG’s lore will instantly recognize some of the characters from Outlaws of Thunder Junction like Oko, Vraska, and Kellan, except they’re now all decked out in new outfits while playing a pivotal role in the story.
For those who aren’t familiar with the backstory:
Thunder Junction is a lawless plane of brazen outlaws and warped morals. It all happened when the mysterious Omenpaths opened, leading villains from across the Multiverse to a new frontier of opportunity – all gunning for the treasures of Maag Taranau (The Vault). Oko rustles up his bandit crew to join the hunt; and it’s up to his son Kellan to beat his father at his own game, or join him.
Magic the Gathering: Outlaws of Thunder Junction includes Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, Commander Decks, Prerelease Packs, and Bundles which means new mechanics and new strategies to uncover and unleash on your unsuspecting opponents.
For example, There’s Plot that lets you exile a card face-up for a cost to cast for free at a later turn, Spree that grants instants and sorceries extra effects for an extra cost, and being able to Mount and Saddle creatures to ride off into the sunset, cuz Thunder Junction is the wild west baybeeeeeee.
And if you’re more into collecting, this set’s Play Boosters will have a chance to contain one of thirty Mythic Rare cards from The Vault:

Outlaws of Thunder Junction will be released in full for tabletop on April 19, with WPN exclusive Prerelease experiences happening on April 12-18. From 12 April onwards, players in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand can participate in a treasure hunt, with a special Bounty Card on hand, islandwide to win prizes.
