Not Sure What to Be? Schola’s Got You

Ever been asked “What do you want to be when you grow up?” and immediately panicked because you don’t even know what’s out there? Same. That’s exactly why Schola exists — Malaysia’s first FREE digital career exploration platform made just for secondary school students. And today, it officially launched at The Grounds, MAHSA Avenue, with a career fest so packed it could give Comic Con a run for its money.
The event, “Kepoh Kerja dengan Schola”, saw nearly 700 curious students exploring career booths, asking burning questions to real-life professionals, taking quizzes, playing financial reality games (yes, money is confusing), and even snapping pics at aesthetic photo booths. Career clarity and good lighting? We love to see it.

Built by the Creador Foundation, Schola was born from a simple but powerful question: How can students dream big if they don’t even know what careers are possible? Spoiler alert: they can’t. Stats show that 8 out of 10 students don’t actually know what their dream career involves, and 6 out of 10 pick based on “vibes” (aka short-term reasons). Sound familiar?
“We spoke to over 1,000 students, and a clear pattern emerged: the primary focus on career alignment typically occurs near graduation based on the selected course. We aim to shift this mindset, empowering students to proactively explore career paths earlier and choose courses that truly resonate with their interests and ambitions from the outset.” – Maha Subramaniam, VP of Creador Foundation and Head of Schola.
Since its soft launch (a.k.a. beta version) in August 2024, Schola has already reached over 190,000 users across Malaysia, racked up 4.7 million social media views, and got a big thumbs-up from over 2,300 teachers. Not bad for the new kid on the block.
And what does it actually do?
Career quizzes that are actually fun
150+ job guides from real pros
Pathways into STEM and TVET
Tools to match your fav subjects to possible careers
It’s like career day — but make it digital, accessible, and Gen Z-approved.
“By encouraging students to consider their future fields of study and careers earlier, we aim to help them visualise the larger possibilities that lie ahead. Schola is committed to instilling this long-term perspective in young people, offering support through any obstacles they may face.” – Shanthi Kandiah, protector of Creador Foundation

The event also featured cool humans like TV host Ceddy Ang, content creators Amin x Abid, and a super real panel on why so many students feel lost when it comes to career decisions. (Hint: it’s not just you. It’s all of us.)
Students from 10 schools and community NGOs showed up, vibed with professionals from over 40 industries, and left with more than just tote bags — they left with a clearer picture of what’s possible.
Because at the end of the day, Schola believes one simple thing:
You can’t choose what you don’t know.
