Think City launches RM20mil creative grant to rejuvenate downtown KL in 2024
Think City recently announced the launch of the Creative KL Grants Programme for 2024, which is a flagship initiative dedicated to rejuvenating Downtown Kuala Lumpur. This programme will be focused on refreshing the areas around the confluence of the Klang and Gombak Rivers within a 3km radius, to renew Kuala Lumpur as a creative and cultural district.
The Creative KL Grants Programme is designed around six key themes – Space Rejuvenation, Creative & Cultural Businesses Seeding and/or Expansion, Creative Content and/or Activation, Enhancing Environmental Resilience, Digitalisation and Capacity Building. It will be aimed to address the diverse needs and challenges of Downtown Kuala Lumpur by enhancing public spaces to fostering digital innovation. This initiative will also be looking to empower communities and businesses to actively contribute to revitalising the city’s cultural and economic landscape.
The Think City Creative KL Grant 2024 will include an allocation of RM20mil
This programme will be supported by the Ministry of Finance through Budget 2024, and will include an allocation of RM20 million which will be used to refresh the areas around downtown KL to improve overall quality of life.
The grants programme was officially launched by Dr Zaliha Mustafa, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), in conjunction with the reopening of Semua House in Kuala Lumpur. Semua House is a key community partner in the programme, and will play a vital role in revitalising the Fashion and Textiles Area that is tucked within the Traditional Shopping Street Precinct.

Applications for the Creative KL Grants Programme are now open! There will also be workshops, engagement sessions, and past grantee showcases will be organised to inspire new applicants and community members in Downtown KL.
