Winners of Msia’s first senior band search goes on a nationwide tour

Have you ever seen your grandpa on the guitar playing songs you’ve never heard before, because the only songs you knew were by Taylor Swift or Olivia Rodrigo? We often forget that older people may have led a much more interesting life when they were younger and are, on all accounts, still up to a solid jam session if given the chance.

Well, TENA, a leading incontinence care brand, held an audition to form a band consisting of Malaysians over 50 with the purpose of spreading awareness on active ageing and inspiring you to continue living your best life as you’re grow older.

In the past weekend, a total of 111 participants including soloists and bands were given the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of celebrity judges with the hopes of gaining a spot in TENA’s new band. At the same time, they had the chance to win a grand prize of RM60,000 but one band stood out most and left the judges wanting more..

TENAcity band has finally found its members to rock and roll with

The musicians who impressed the judges with their stage presence and musical abilities are Gerard Singh (vocalist/bassist), Colin Thaddeus Jansen (guitarist), Raymond Chia (keyboardist) and Mark George Felix (guitarist) who are all over the age of 50.

Despite going up against tough competitors, they were crowned as winners of the TENAcity band search. The band also expressed their gratitude to TENA for giving them a chance to chase after their dreams while spreading a hopeful message of active ageing.

“We appreciate TENA’s efforts in creating an avenue for older Malaysians to stay active, as there are often few options available to this demographic. The band hopes to inspire more Malaysians to not only prioritise active ageing physically but also mental implications.” – Gerard Singh, the band’s vocalist

Here’s the best part, the band aren’t only walking away with RM60,000 but they were also given the chance to embark on their own tour!

That’s right, the aim of this tour is to encourage Malaysians across the nation to practice active lifestyles regardless of age. TENAcity will be touring around Malaysia starting with a performance in Shah Alam followed by Penang, Ipoh, Kuantan, Johor Bahru and finally back in Petaling Jaya.

So, grab your grandparents and attend the TENAcity concert which runs from June till November 2023! If you’re interested to know more about the tour dates and locations, all you have to do is go to TENA Facebook page or their website 👍🏼
