Fugee puts a Spotlight on talented young refugees

Spotlight: Breaking Boundaries, Amplifying Voices is a special event celebrating the talents and resilience of refugee youth. The event is organized by Fugee, a leading non-profit organization championing education access for refugees in Malaysia founded by Deborah Henry.

Spotlight celebrates the talents and academic achievements of refugee youth

“Spotlight” will feature captivating performances by refugee youth, showcasing their diverse talents through music, dance, spoken word and poetry. Guest performers making an appearance include musician Marco George, poet Kasthury, singer Elvira, and a dynamic lyrical dance troupe.

Also held in conjunction with the show us the Fugee HiEd Scholarship Award Ceremony. Here, 22 exceptional refugee students will be awarded scholarships to pursue their higher education dreams. This year’s cohort marks the largest group of scholars to date, reflecting Fugee HiEd’s continued commitment to empowering refugee youth.

Proceeds from the event will continue to support Fugee programs

The event will also feature a variety of delicious food stalls, offering an array of cultural cuisines prepared by refugee chefs, as well as merchandise. Proceeds from the sales will go towards supporting Fugee’s programs.
