A viral video of a large airplane on fire crashing near a neighborhood is CGI and not of the one in Elmina, that happened on 17 August 2023. The video of the airplane on fire was uploaded on 9th June 2023 on YouTube Shorts which was two months prior to the Elmina flight incident.
The computer-generated video depicted a large commercial airplane with a US flag on its tail, although the aircraft involved in yesterday’s incident was a Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1), according to Faqcheck Lab.
The CGI video has been circulating among Malaysian users on social media apps such as TikTok and messaging apps like WhatsApp, with a caption claiming it was footage from yesterday’s light aircraft crash.
It has come to our attention that there’s been a widely video claiming to show the final moments before the #Elmina plane crash. pic.twitter.com/e3OwxQI7PU

Additionally, MCMC has also released a statement asking the general public to refrain from spreading videos of the victims in the Elmina crash. Regardless, of MCMC’s warning you might also want to consider before sharing anything speculative or unconfirmed (like this fake video) or disturbing footage from the actual accident as it may cause further confusion and distress.
