Go ‘offline’ with Pepsi and reconnect with your family this Raya

Technology has disrupted our lives to the point that real time family bonding is non-existent on Raya because we’re so occupied with our smartphones. This writer has experienced relatives who came over on Raya asking for the wifi password so they could sit on the sofa and scroll through their phones all day without talking to anyone.

That’s definitely not the right way to celebrate this festive season with your family. We should be grateful and appreciate these Raya moments with them because not everyone has the privilege to do so yet we’re so disconnected with each other despite being at the same table.

This is how ‘family bonding’ apparently looks like during Raya. Image screenshot from Ini Baru Raya ad.

However, as much as family bonding is significant during Raya celebrations, let’s not forget that Ramadhan is also a month of self observation and giving back to the community so we should focus on supporting those in need too.

For this year’s Raya, Pepsi wants you to put your phone away but better than that, doing this also help the underprivileged communities and the best of all is that you get to win exclusive prizes too.

All you need to do is not look at your phone!

From now till 7th May, Pepsi has pledged to go ‘offline’ with the launch of their ‘Build Real Connections’ campaign that focuses on appreciating face-to-face moments with your loved ones during festive celebrations without technology distractions.

At the same time by showing compassion to those in need this season, Pepsi also has partnered up with Kechara Soup Kitchen Society and The Lost Food Project, who will donate each meal care pack to underprivileged communities for every hour you go offline.

This is what you’ve been waiting for and yes, you may also stand a chance to win amazing prizes for participating in the ‘offline’ hours.

If you want to be the lucky owner of these prizes, all you have to do is just follow these simple steps below (terms and conditions apply):

  • You can scan the QR code or go to the microsite
  • Just click ‘Join Now’ and go offline by putting your phone away up to 2 hours each time
  • You can gather as many offline hours as possible at a better chance to win a trip to Japan, Grabfood vouchers and more!

So, get your ketupat ready with a bottle of Pepsi by your side this Raya while sitting in front of the TV watching Khabi Khushi Khabi Gham (the same Bollywood film is always playing on every celebration no matter, CNY or Christmas) with your family.

Also, you can always check out Pepsi’s Facebook or Instagram page if you’re interested for more updates ☺️
