LEGO has been something children in the early 90s played with during their playtime in the evenings and school holidays.  Did you know that you can come up with  915,103,765 combinations with just 6 LEGO blocks? It all depends on your creativity. In 2022, LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort launched the first LEGOLAND School Challenge, which saw 205 participants. This year they are expecting at least 400 participants.

This is a prominent competition in which primary and secondary school students can demonstrate their inventiveness and creativity via LEGO® Model Building.

The competition will be available to students from ASEAN countries, including Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines, for the first time this year.

The theme for this year’s challenge is for students to imagine and build Cities of the Future out of LEGO bricks. Students can enter the challenge in a few simple steps and compete for their share of prizes valued up to RM100,000:

1. Students must form groups of 5-15 students with 1-3 teachers and register their groups on the LEGOLAND School Challenge 2023 website between now and May 26.

2. After registering, student teams must brainstorm and begin creating their futuristic LEGO cities.

3. For their final submission, teams must include images of their models as well as a photo, video, and written description of their concept.

4. Submissions will be examined by a LEGOLAND Malaysia expert panel, which will include a team of Master Model Builders.

5. Ten winning teams will be chosen from two categories and invited to the LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort for a prize-giving event.

6. In addition to a trip to LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort and a share of prizes worth up to RM100,000, teams will be able to participate in a special LEGO Building workshop with a Master LEGO Builder and some of the resort’s MoE-endorsed Education Programmes.

That’s not all, the winners will also have the opportunity to display their masterpieces in the resort for one month so that guests can admire them.

One of the key perks of entering this competition is that the Malaysian Ministry of Education (MoE) recognizes the benefits of the program and has extended its support for the competition. This means Malaysian students can participate in the LEGOLAND School Challenge 2023 as an extracurricular activity with the help of the MoE.

Wait no more. Gather your friends who love playing with LEGOs and apply to take part in the LEGOLAND School Challenge.
