Mercedes-Benz Malaysia showcases 4 top-end models, from performance to ultimate luxury
Here’s a question – how do you make other owners of the car with the three-point star jealous? Mercedes-Benz Malaysia provides four answers with the launch of four models that embody the epitome of automotive luxury and sophistication.
Starting with the sportier models…
Mercedes-AMG 63 E PERFORMANCE
Touted as “the most powerful S-Class ever built, the Mercedes-AMG S 63 E PERFORMANCE is a full-sized luxury sedan that presents a perfect synthesis of comfort and performance.
The combination of the AMG 4.0 liter V8 biturbo engine with the AMG high-performance battery allows it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 290 km/h. This is in perfect contrast to the meticulous interior craftsmanship which boasts AMG seats and an AMG performance steering wheel in black Nappa leather along with Anthracite open-pore poplar wood trim.
Also on board are the AIR BALANCE package, active ambient lighting and the Burmester® 3D Surround Soundsystem with MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment System. Other standard features include the THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control in the front and rear and the OLED central display.
We were also introduced to DIGITAL LIGHT, the company’s new headlamp technology which dynamically adjusts the headlamps to ensure that you get the best possible light distribution and orientation at night without blinding other drivers. It can also project warnings onto the road surface, which is pretty cool.
The Mercedes-AMG S 63 E PERFORMANCE is priced from RM2,238,888 (including 10% ST) for Peninsular Malaysia, inclusive of a 6-year / 100,000km high-voltage battery warranty (whichever comes first). Price is on the road, without insurance.
Mercedes-Benz CLE 300 4MATIC Coupé
The Mercedes-Benz CLE 300 4MATIC Coupé is an elegantly sporty two-door that represents a blend of of conceptual and technical innovations from the C-Class and E-Class. The design is meant to “embody an emotional statement from every perspective,” characterised by flowing surfaces with seamless transitions. This is most evident in a distinctive shaped edge which structures the volume in the side wall. This character line runs from the headlight to the exterior mirror and from the rear light to the door handle, emphasizing the sporty proportions and the powerful wheel arches.
The progressively forward-leaning front section (“shark nose”) with a low-slung bonnet, unique flat DIGITAL LIGHT headlight design and a distinctive radiator grille gives the car an athletic yet extremely elegant appearance.
Inside the car, the most attention-grabbing features is the portait-oriented 11.9-inch central display which seamlessly emerges from the front center console, adorned with a mixed fabric-look finish accented with metallic effects. Further elevating the luxury experience, the interior features ARTICO man-made leather in nappa look adorning the instrument panel and beltlines, exuding refinement and elegance.
Luxurious leather extends to the multi-function sports steering wheel in nappa leather and new front seats developed exclusively for the CLE. The front seats include climatized front seats with seat heating and seat ventilation and electro-pneumatic four-way lumbar support. The memory function can be used to save individual driver seat settings for up to three people.
Rare for a coupé, it seems that the main beneficiaries of the new design are actually the rear passengers. First off, the front seats are not unlocked with a lever, but with an elegant loop made of Nappa leather. And while the CLE Coupé offers significantly more space than the C-Class Coupé, the rear passengers in particular benefit from 10 millimetres more headroom, 19 millimetres more shoulder and elbow room and 72 millimetres more knee room.
The Mercedes-Benz CLE 300 4MATIC Coupé is estimated to be priced from RM526,000 (including 10% ST) without insurance.
Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 4MATIC
Moving on to SUVs, the Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 4MATIC is a seven-seater that offers high comfort, stability, and handling.
This iteration introduces changes to the exterior, interior, and equipment; most notably with the striking radiator grille and visually prominent bumper. The AMG Line exterior of the vehicle also features 22-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels and aluminium-look, illuminated running boards with rubber studs. New paint finishes such as Sodalite Blue Metallic and MANUFAKTUR Alpine Grey Solid are available color options.
Inside, the new GLS has something different to offer for front and back passengers. For the front, theres a multifunction sports steering wheel in nappa leather, rough leather/leather black upholstery, and dashboard and door beltlines in ARTICO man-made leather. The multicontour front seats offer active cushions, hot stone massage effect, seat heating plus, and seat ventilation. The updated generation of the of the MBUX infotainment system brings with it a new look for the displays which can be individualized to three different styles (classic, sporty, discreet) and three modes (Navigation, Assistance, Service).
For the back, passengers are treated to comfortable multicontour rear seats with massage function and lumbar support. The Rear Comfort Package Plus provides extensive connectivity and more comfort in the rear, including luxury head restraints. With 2 fully integrated 11.6-inch touch displays connected MBUX, passengers can enjoy films in brilliant picture quality or surf the Internet. Also included are 2 USB slots in the rear with 100W charging, wireless charging, and THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control in the rear.

Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC
Touted as a “luxury hotel experience on wheels”, the new Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC combines the strengths of the GLS with the exclusivity of the Maybach.
The most distinguishing features on the vehicle are the vertical chrome bars and the “Maybach” lettering on the radiator grille. The air inlet grilles also feature a Maybach pattern and have a chrome surround. It features 23-inch Maybach multi-spoke forged wheels, MULTIBEAM LED headlights, Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus, and a panoramic sliding sunroof. For individualization, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS is available with an extensive range of paint options including Maybach two-tone paint.
A pristine view also works both ways, as drivers are also provided a clear view thanks to heated wiper blades and wiper hoses as well as inching wash function, among others via MAGIC VISION CONTROL. Also included with the Maybach GLS are power closing doors which pulls the doors gently and almost silently into the lock.
For the interior, the Widescreen Cockpit forms a unit consisting of the instrument display and media display. Drivers will also appreciate the heads-up display and MBUX Augmented Reality Navigation. Around the back, MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment System delivers 2 fully integrated touch displays, each with an 11.6-inch screen. There is also a MBUX rear tablet located in the centre armrest of the rear seat.
The Executive seats with leg rests ensure relaxation. Paired with multicontour rear seats that come with a massage function and ergonomically mouldable backrest contour, rear passengers enjoy the same comfort benefits as the driver and front passenger.
For this car though, customization is the name of the game. The MANUFAKTUR leather package surrounds passengers with finest nappa leather – from exclusive upholstery cushions for the Executive seats to the roof liner with striking topstitching. You can also take it a notch further with the MANUFAKTUR Exclusive Leather Package, where even the window frame is upholstered in the finest nappa leather.
