McDonald’s RMHC Charity spreads rasa burger-mbira to underprivileged children over the month of Syawal

McDonald’s Malaysia’s chosen charity, Ronald McDonald House Charities Malaysia (RMHC Malaysia), brought smiles to underprivileged children and their families through several open house celebrations held throughout the month of Syawal.

The open houses were attended by past and present beneficiaries of RMHC Malaysia, volunteers, and the local community.

RMHC Malaysia extended the festive spirit with open house celebrations at the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) located at Hospital Tunku Azizah (HTA) on 27 April, and RMH Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM (HCTM-UKM) on 4 May. These events welcomed a total of more than 350 attendees, bringing together the RMH community.

RMH offers affordable and comfortable accommodation for families of pediatric patients receiving medical treatment at selected hospitals, providing a “home-away-from-home” for those in need.

Additionally, an open house event for RMHC Malaysia’s Gift of Smile (GOS) program was also held at RMH HCTM-UKM on 28 April, bringing together past and present beneficiaries, specifically children born with cleft lip and palate who have undergone or are currently undergoing corrective surgeries and treatment.

“Syawal is a time of joyous celebration and building meaningful connections. These open house celebrations provide us with the opportunity to spread joy to the community, especially to underprivileged children, and strengthen our relationships with partners who share our commitment” – Dato’ Azmir bin Jaafar, President of RMHC Malaysia.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities Malaysia (RMHC Malaysia) was established in February 1990 as a non-profit organization with the mission to create, find and support programmes that directly improve the health and well-being of under-privileged children in Malaysia.

These programmes are the Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Sensory Room, Gift of Smile and the ‘Back-to-School’ program. In the last 34 years, RMHC has positively impacted more than 100,000 children’s lives in the areas of health, education and welfare with funding of more than RM50 million.

Most importantly, all these initiatives are only made possible by the generosity of Malaysians who donate via digital self-ordering kiosks and coin boxes located at McDonald’s Restaurants nationwide, as well as through corporate donations from partners and companies across the nation.
