Before ‘Netflix and chill’, there was ‘dinner and a movie’ – one of the most popular date night ideas ever, and for good reason too. It’s not just the fact that it’s cosy and dark, but it can also make a great bonding experience. (Or at least, tell you if the relationship isn’t gonna work out… like this writer who suffered through 3 hours of her date sharing spoilers during Avengers: Endgame. Yea, not dating anymore.)

And in our recent Great Malaysian Movie Survey 2019 with our friends from GSC, we found out that Malaysians do take their movie dates preeeeetty seriously:

• 7.3% stay back after the movie is over to “get comfy” with their dates (WHAT DOES THAT MEAN HUH??)
• 3.5% say they choose watching movies in a fancier cinemas because they want to ber-romen with dates in better seats, and
• 8.7% would spend more at the movies to impress their first date!

Unfortunately… 151 respondents said they got rejected during a movie date. (Kah Hoe, are you reading this article now? Are you still talking during movies? Are you still single?) Speaking of dates…
