Ladies and gentlemen, healthcare enthusiasts, and media connoisseurs, welcome to medical travel’s most anticipated awards! Get ready to be dazzled as the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) proudly presents the Medical Travel Media Awards (MTMA) 2023!
These awards celebrate top-notch journalism and influencer narratives, all dedicated to the world of medical travel in Malaysia.

This year, the awards will be graced by an illustrious panel of jurors rooted in the international and local media scene. Let’s meet the jury!
Professor Dr. Kiranjit Kaur, a 38-year media and PR veteran, leads this spectacular cast. With credentials from the International Coaching Federation and the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia, Dr. Kiranjit adds a touch of elegance to our prestigious lineup.
Joining the spotlight is Ilan Geva, President of Ilan Geva and Friends Inc., and Sr. Director of Strategy & Head of Americas & Chicago office. A global branding and consumer behavior expert, Geva is also an author, speaker, trainer, and university professor.
Joining the lineup, Dr. Ainul Rhyshikin Yusoff, known as ‘Docmummy,’ and returning judge, Dr. Izzal Asnira Zolkepli. Dr. Ainul is a breastfeeding advocate and was voted Best Medical Travel Influencer in 2021, adding an extraordinary touch to the lineup. Dr. Izzal, an Associate Professor at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and recipient of the Malaysian Research Star Award will be bringing her substantial and impactful expertise in digital media communication to the juror’s table for a 3rd consecutive year.
The panel also includes industry stalwarts like Hanizah Hamzah, Head of Television at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) since 2006; seasoned journalist Jegathesan Muniandy, a senior correspondent at Agency France-Presse (AFP); and Cristian Rahadiansyah, a 19-year journalistic veteran from Indonesia; and Chris Seto, the Managing Director of Dataxet:nama, a key player in media intelligence. He’s here to judge for the Best Broadcast Medical Travel Feature award!

The jury will be evaluating submissions based on research quality, presentation technique, creativity, headlines and content, digital and social presence, and shareability. Entries opened on February 14, 2023, and are welcome from professional journalists, writers, and media agencies, whether permanently or contractually employed by print, electronic, or online media organizations. Full-time journalists employed by wire agencies are also eligible, as are freelancers and part-time journalists, subject to approval from the publishing or broadcasting editor or news agency.
Mark your calendars, because the submission deadline is November 1, 2023. MHTC is eagerly anticipating entries from across the globe! Finalists and winners will take center stage at the grand MTMA 2023 Awards Presentation Ceremony, scheduled for December 14. Get ready to witness history in the making!
