Lay’s sLAYS with 3 limited edition flavors inspired by USA, Mexico, & Korea
Lay’s just said a collective Yee-haw, Hola, and Saranghae with the simultaneous launch of three limited edition potato chip flavors, and a even more limited event to celebrate it.
Before we talk about the event, lets first talk about the chips because, of course we got to try ’em.
Starting with this writer’s personal favorite, the Mexico-inspired Chili Lime has a strong citrusy hit that will get sides of your tongue salivating on the first bite. It’s meant to evoke the vibrancy of Tex-Mex cuisine but, if you’re looking for an Asian equivalent, we’re gonna say it gives tomyam vibes. If you have the tastebuds of a pregnant woman or looking for chips to go with your tomyam, this one is it.
The America-inspired Tomato is a tangy ketchup that’s meant to bring classic American diner or backyard barbecue. It’s more on a vinegary note instead of sweet, so it’s less jelak and more hoedown on your tastebuds.
If you prefer a bit of spice in your bite though, then the Korea-inspired Spicy might be your Seoul food. Instead of an over 9,000-level spice hit though, this is a super mild heat that’s carried by a layer of sweetness. Also for some reason, it’s the only ridged chip of the bunch. Maybe because it’s meant to look like a Buchaechum dance fan? Apparently it’s because the ridges help carry the flavors better.
If any (or all) of them sound interesting to you, they’re already available at supermarkets in the big 170g bags. The America and Korea flavors are also available in smaller 50g bags, because we all know 50g of the Mexico isn’t enough 😏.
You can #OpenAWorldofFlavor at APW Bangsar this weekend!
Lay’s will be taking you around the world through their potato chips at the Lay’s Flavor Around the World – Hall of Flavor event at APW Bangsar from August 18 – 20, 2023. You can transport yourselves to America, Mexico or Korea at the World Photobooth, try your hand at the Giant Round the Flavor Wheel, or prove your Lay’s loyalty with their Guess the Flavor challenge. Log on to Lay’s Malaysia’s Facebook Page for more info on both the chips and the event.
Because hey, even if you can’t travel the world on the cheap, you can at least still travel the world through a chip.
